Hey guys, I finally figured out how to get activated here. I have been reading this site for almost a year and have learned a lot. Thanks. I currently own a 2000 f150 and have vowed not to buy another ford. Dad has a 1999 f350 7.3l which runs like a beast but the rest of the truck is junk.

We are both leaning toward the Ram. Looks like there are some issues here with auto trans, ball joints, injector knock and lift pumps. The ford 6.0 has had its share of problems too.

Are these the standard wide spread issues? or are these isolated cases. Hate to have to deal with these issues out of the box like I had to with the piston slap in the 5.4l.

Hey, I'll be back with a few questions. Dad may be looking in the spring for a 3500 single rear wheel tuck. I am about a year away and hoping Dodge comes out with the mega cab,

Thanks for all the great information.

Welcome to the site! I don't think these are standard wide spread issues, or isolated cases. I would suggest they are common maintaince items. On some trucks they go early on others they go late and on some they never go at all. Out of the box I don't think you will have many if any issues that need dealing with. I haven't had any in the 20,000 km I have had mine....
