finally installed my mitchell over drive!
Towing in 6th over is not a problem for the GV unit, but rather for the overdrive gear in the 6 speed G56 unit.
My GV unit only drops my RPM by about 500.
I would rather have the +22% so I can tow in 5th over (direct drive) and have the same ratio as the factory stock 6th. Then have a wicked nice OD ratio in 6th for light loads and empty... Even heavy when having a tail wind on the flats. I look more at the load (boost & EGT) If it's working hard I shift from 6th over to 5th over.
This is the best for longevity of the G56.. It runs cooler and will not beat up the little OD gear in the G56. Running HEAVY in 6th over will beat up your G56.
You may want to rethink you OD gearing choice and consider running in 5th OVER when pulling any real weight.
I do like your set up! I would have preferred it as it does not have the reverse "issue" Also no electronic crap. My GV is doing some weird stuff like not shifting into OD sometimes when I first use the truck. Also after using 4x4 you have to shut off the ignition to reset the lock out.
The weak link in your 6th overdrive is the G56.
