Few Questions

I have a 2004 2500 5.9 all stock now except for the tires which are 35's. Trans was rebuilt by James at JTT.
I have had 2 different shops tell me that my fan clutch is not working and needs replaced. But when I look at the fan it seems to be working fine. My temp guage runs just under 200 99% of the time. Once in awhile it might crawl up to 205 210 ish has never hit 220. I have noticed that my ac seems to short cycle and i have checked the freon.
Any thoughts? Place to buy the fan clutch?
Also one of the shops said I need to change my hub bearings. I do hear a growl once in awhile if i turn the wheel just right. Also I know that one of my rotors is warped and I am getting new rotors and brakes real soon. Any suggestions where to buy hubs? Do you need a press?
One last question, How do you check the ball joints to see if they are bad?
Thanks in Advance. Yall have helped me a couple of times now and I really apreciate the help.

Technically speaking, you need to attach a dial indicator to measure the ball joint play to see if it's "in spec." Personally, if I can unload the suspension and visually see play or slop with a prybar on it, it's out of spec. But that's just me.

No help on the air but I now pushing 100K on my 05 and the temperature guage fluctuates. On start up it will climb to 2 x the width of the indicator past 200, then when the thermo opens it goes below, if you get on it from a dead stop or hit a hill it will shoot back up for just a moment past the hill or hard acceleration.

So I think temp fluctuation is normal as long as it does not go very high.

The fan will always turn when the engine is running. Less when cold. When the engine is warmed up, the fan clutch should be difficult if not impossible to turn by hand. If you can easily turn it by hand, replace it.

LOL Just make sure the engine is off before testing the fan
