My Dad had an 05 3500 H/O and after running semi hard for a while when he comes to a stop the engine surges or almost Lopes like a souped up V8. Any Ideas?

 

If it is a 6spd, it is normal, I don't know about autos, but my 6spd surges a little when returning to idle.

Mine does the same thing and it is a 6spd, what causes this? I have an appointment at the dealer to have this looked at, but if it is normal I won't worry about it.

 

I think you've got lift pump issues. I was testing my engine with lift pump setups a few days ago and I could make it surge if I slightly starved it for fuel.

 

What makes this normal for a 6spd?

 

it has to do with the ecm not knowing what is happenning in the trans...

the engine speed will hunt around from about 600-1000rpm with vehicle speed greater than 15mph or so.

if you search on surging engine or something like that, you can find many results.. i did a quick one and came up with one here
