Engine Squeek at shut down

I've read the Aug 03 posting of this question, but I'm still concerned about this very loud squeek on shut down when the truck is at operating temp. I use a cool down timer and don't get the squeek when I have to use the truck for a short trip when the truck doesn't fully reach operating temp.

There is a bulletin. It's a normal noise.

You'll find it getting more and more random as you put some miles on the truck.

New, I'm pretty sure it did it every time.

I don't remember it doing it much at all during this last winter, maybe every 6th or 7th shutdown,
and now it seems like every 3rd shutdown.
A lot depends on if I use the A/C, and for how long.
How long before shutdown did I turn the A/C off, if even.

I've got 15k+ on it, with about 1k towing an 11k lbs trailer and I rarely use the A/C.

Are you referring to the belt "chirp"?If so,this is normal, but can be rectified with a Goodyear gatorback replacement belt.

That shutdown squeek is normal; the easiest thing to do is just ignore it - another option is to never shut it down.

I smile when mine does it - lets people know there isn't 1.8L buzz bomb under the hood.

The Cummins in the Freightliner at a farm where I once worked made the exact same sound (only on a bigger scale).

I think my truck only does it if the fan clutch is engaged when I shut it off... (fan appears to run even if coolant isn't hot if the AC is on, apparenlty to pull air into the condenser).

I wouldn't worry about it. The thing has 6 big, high compression pistons, and the crank accelerates and decelerates a couple of times as a few pistons hit compression stroke before things comes to a stop, and it just chirps the fan belt...
