belt squeek on shut down

OK, I thought DC had cured that problem. Is it still normal or do I have something going on? I shut the A/C off, let it idle a couple minutes and shut the truck down and have a belt squeek like the older models. This is my 1st CTD (ex D-Max owner x2). So kick me if this is a stupid question.

the squeel is due to the compression of the motor, it stops rotating very quickly and makes a chirp. there is a tsb for it, dc replaces the alternator pulley with a clutched unit to stop the squeek.

My '06 has the alternator clutch pulley from the factory. I would think the '07 should have it too. But what do I know, I'm only an engineer, not a bean counter!

I know the clutch pulley is available from DC for the '06. Maybe the pulley fit's the '07 alternator?

Of course this is a different motor with different characteristics.

but mine is the 5.9. I don't know.

SHANE, you can kick me when i get up there!!! LOL!!

I am not worried about it, just thought they had fixed it a couple years ago. If it causes no problems, then drive it like you stole it!! LOL!!

With the high compression, the motor must come to rest in one of 6 positions. Sometimes it hits it right......no squeek. Sometimes it's off one of those positions by quite a bit.....squeek! Totally normal.
Cheers

My 04 was the same way, squeak so they put the clutch pulley on a few weeks ago. If your new one does not have the clutch like someone said, its probably a bean counter thing.

The clutch is an available part for people that don't like the squeak and don't realize it is a trait of these engines. Daimler wants to make the truck as close to a gasser as possible . They didn't all come with it but you can have it installed if your still under warranty. You can also pay to have it installed if your out of warranty as well.

No one mentioned it but the belt is tensioned correctly isn't it?? My 06 does not make a sound so if it is a clutch issue then it must be a bean counter issue between the 06 and 07.
