Engine sounds different

I have noticed that my engine sounds different then other cummins. It has more of a rattle type sound. Others have a nice deep rummble. I have not been able to figure out why it sounds different or if it is even a problem. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Yea other 04.5s and up, no codes and it does run pretty good. I have run cleaners, did not help. Syn. oil helped a little.

I know my 03 SO sounds a lot quieter than my buddy's 05 HO , but was just making sure you were comparing apples to apples! There have been some posts about noisey injectors, CP3 knock type noise, converter bolts coming loose, flywheels cracked, high pressure line retainers breaking, tons of things that will cause odd noises. Probably need to crawl around it some to get a better idea of where your particular noise is coming from.

We have an two 04.5s an 05 and a 06 and just got rid of an 04. I have asked the dealer but they said nothing is wrong. It is most likely the injectors or the cp3. I was just wondering if anyone has changed injectors, cp3, etc and if it made a difference. Thanks for all the info.
