Engine block heater cord..
Engine block heater cord..
I know this has been covered before but I cant find exact install procedure. Does just the black cap come off where the cord (plugs/screws) in to? I see there is a brass fitting that screws into the block just under the black cap not sure yet which one comes off. I haven't recieved my cord yet so I'm not going to dive into it until it get's here. Just wanted a heads up before I start. Thanks and sorry if this has been covered already.

I have the same truck you do and just installed mine last weekend. Yes, your correct, just take the black cap off and plug the cord into that spot. The cord has two pins that need to be lined up as you insert it to the heater. If you're really curious (like I was) go take the black cap of tonight just to see. I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before I started too. The other neat thing is if you purchased the factory cord, it comes with three (pre installed) push tabs. If you route the cord straight down toward the frame and then forward along the frame and then up to the front passenger side of the Trans cooler , you'll notice three holes in the frame. These mount/hold the cord for you and the last spot in front of the trans cooler has the clip already installed to hold the end of the cord.
Thanks I did see the clips where it looked like a cord would snap in. Cant wait till I get it and can use it even though it's still in the 90's here. (phx) Where I live we did get into the lower 20's last year so I'm sure I will need it a couple of times. Thank again.

BTW has anyone purchased their cord from geno's? The picture in their website looks like a female end where the extension cord is supposed to plug in. This would make the extension cord turned around so you couldn't plug it in to the wall. Sorry if this seems like a stupid ?.

Im with you on this one know i have seen it before just can't find it. where was the cheapest/best place to buy it starting to get cold in oklahoma now so figured i need to get it. today was the first time since i got it since the wait to start coil light came on
I've had mine for almost a month and I am trying to wait till my first oil change and I'm gonna make the dealer put a cord on when they change my oil and r&b my tires. I'm hoping it doesn't stay cool in Oklahoma for long until I get that done. It would be nice though for Friday morning seeing as its gonna be mid 30's. My WTS light came on this morning for the first time as well.
