Block Heater cord install and engine movement
I took the day off and picked up my block heater. I have just insured we won’t have anymore cold weather. Any way I got mine from Cummins it even came with the plastic frame fasteners on it. It was like a 5 minute job. I think I left enough slack in it to accommodate engine movement...?
The question is how much can the engine move?
I left about 3 in of slack in the cord. I routed it out the side of the block over until it almost touches the air intake tube to the turbo and then straight down to the frame and out the front.
Did i leave enough slack?

Lock ring for heater plug
Anyone else have trouble getting the lock ring off the heater chord plug? I can get a pair of pliers on it straight on and off at an angle Im just spins the jaws or stripping the lock ring finish. Is there a better tool to use? Id like to try and test the chord before I drain the coolant and replace the heating element.
