Enabled High Idle and not working?????

Got a question for you tech's out there. I had my High Idle enabled today only for it not to work. Any ideas? Hooked the scantool back up and it said it was enabled. Go figure, it has to be on my truck as usual.

Turn on cruise and hit set if you haven't done that already. E-brake will likely have to be engaged a couple notches.

Sorry, beats the heck out of me then. If they found it on their scan tool, your ECM must be capable. You have an auto, so you don't have to put in a clutch switch or ground out pin #22.

Does your cruise work on the highway?

Yes, cruise works just fine. It is a vacum controlled unit not drive by wire.

Hmmmm....really stumped now. The only thing I can think of is your ECm doesn't support, or the tech. messed something up. Given some of them out there, I say the guy enabling it is the weak link.

hey spooler, I went thru this also. One thing that happened ... each time they did another ECM TSB or update it would over-write and disable the high-idle ... this happened 3 or 4 diferent times with me and I had to have them re-enable it each time. One time it was a little quirky, actually said it was enabled on the Scan tool but it would not work, they had to run thru the process again and then it worked fine.
The parking brake does not need to be engaged ... just start the truck, while in Park hit the Cruise On then hit Set ... tap Accell to bump up the idle speed.

No new flashes here. I'll get back with them this week if I get a chance. No worries.

I didn't think the high idle worked on non drive by wire trucks

Three steps:

(1) While truck is in nuetral or park, with foot off brake pedal, press the
"resume" button on the cruise control.
(2) next, press the "on" button on the cruise contrl.
(3) Last, press the "set" button on cruise control, idle should now go up to 1,100 rpms.

To the best of my knowledge, it won't work on the trucks with vacuum cruise. If I am wrong, someone let me know! I want to enable it on mine! Mine says enabled also on the DRBIII. Mine only does the high idle below 32* unfortunately.

I believe my 04.5 is the vacum deal, and it work's on mine. The reason I believe mine is vacum is because my cruise stopped working and I discovered a broke vacum line. Fixed that and now it work's.

Also,,,mine has the APPS on the side of the engine. I assume that mean's my truck is not drive by wire,,,unless I'm wrong. And that has happed twice in the last 40 year's.

My truck is exactly like yours. When I get a chance I will take it back. May have been a loose nut on the DRB tool.

Mine has apps on the side of the engine too. Still can't get the cruise high idle. Yours has worked at some point?
