EGT temp probe location???
The best place to get the best reading out youre pyro is definitly in the manifold. Some people like post turbo better but I have done both and pre def seemed much more accurate.
Pre-turbo gives the quickest response and the most accurate reading of what your engine is doing. Post-turbo works best for a cool-down and most exhaust brakes have a port already in them for the probe. There is zero danger of a disintegrating probe going through a turbo. The latter is a pretty remote possibility but it has been referenced in some publications.
I have a post-turbo probe that serves both my cool-down and the pyrometer. All I need to know is when to back off on the throttle, especially when pulling long hills. It works fine for me.
