EGT Question
I had a BD-X Monitor for EGT and Boost installed on our 325/610 today. Probe is installed pre-turbo in the collective part of the manifold just before it enters the turbo, i.e. closer to 5 & 6 than #3 cylinder. Slight issue is I have no way of calibrating the EGT gauge. At idle with a warm engine it was reading 290's *F. On a 10 mile test run on the highway in 6th at 62 mph on slightly undulating prairie and with 15 mph tailwind it was indicating 550 - 615*, on return into same wind on same road 640 - 680*. Question - do these indicated temps fall within expected range based on other's gauge readings? Your feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Most EGT probes are fairly accurate out of the box, but you can calibrate them if you are so inclind. A Fry Daddy and a calibrated thermometer works on my airplane EGT's. I monitor all 4 cylinders. You can always make lunch too! Water boils at 212F at sea level if you don't want to mess with oil, but you won't get the higher readings obviously.
Be careful!

i just installed my gauges last night, and my EGT readings are , motor stone cold, start up, and idle, just below 300.
warming up a bit then driving down the road, around 600, most of the driving i did , it stayed around 600,give or take a few.
when the motor was up to temp on the factory coolant gauge, i stood on it through the gears, and it went to almost 1250, then slowly cam back down to 600-700 as i coasted into town.sat in drive way for about 1 min, and came back down to 300.
and there you have it, sounds like yours in right on the money.
