ECM Warranty
ECM Warranty
I have a 2003 3500 HO, 4x4, 82,000 mi. It has the starting problems that I have been reading about. I'm betting high that it is injectors. Took it to dealer who said valves need adjusting. Tech said no and replaced the lift pump with the in tank pump. Under warranty, waived the dedutable. Sent me out the door with a bill for $0.00.
When I brought it back later that afternoon because it would not start, he said it might be injectors. This morning I stoped by andthe tech had replaced the ECM. He said it showed error codes that indicated it needed to be replaced. I assume that it is covered under warrnty because I wrote on the work order to call me for anything that won't be covered by warranty.
This afternoon I stopped by and the truck starts every time BUT you have to crank it at least 15-20 seconds.
They are testing the injectors.
Does enyone know if the ECM is covered under the 100,000 warranty?

Thanks
Dealer has always treated me right. 2nd truck I've bought from him. Gave me a nice loaner while mine is down.
I don't think the ECM needed to be replaced. It did not fix the problem. I post the final results.

In my book if they are shotgunning the issue by throwing parts in the dealer should either eat the cost of the ECM or install the original back in.
And yes, it does sound like a leaky injector issue.

Sounds like you have another problem, did they check for a cam signal? Long crank time before starting could be cam signal not being seen by ECM. Any codes? read this thread before you go to dealer https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...+sensor+wiring
They ordered injectors yesterday and will overnight them. My truck runs fine once its started. Just a half a snort of either and it fires. Has not died, missed, stumbled or given me any indication that it was going to quit running. No noticable grey smoke from exhaust. We'll see.

Picked up my truck today. Runs great, starts 1st time every time (so far). New Lift pump, New ECM, 6 brand spanking new injectors. Total bill to Dodge was about $4,400. Total bill out the door to me was $0.00.
If there is a Santa, I believe his name is Rudy Sandavol, Sandavol Dodge in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He took good care of this coustomer.
