Ecm??

Ecm?? Here is the problem the bearing blew out on my drivers side. Took it to the shop. Bearing fixed new hob, rotor and abs cable. Get the truck back check engine light is now on it is throwing a P2127 code. I take it to a dodge repair shop and they tell me it is the ECM and it will be 3200.00 to repair. My truck is a 2004 3500 ram. Help, how can I check to make sure that is the problem? I am a lady but I am not stupid. Any help would be appreciated. I posted in the ER because I have to be in KY Sunday and it Friday night.

Hey Susan, I can't really answer your question, but have a question/suggestion for you. If your truck is running with no problems, even although it is showing a code, could you maybe still go on your trip and sort it out once you return?

Do you have a code reader or know someone who has one? Get them to check the codes, cancel them and see if that code comes back. I am a bit suspicious that brake work throws an engine code.

A quick check on the internet shows that this code could also mean a APPS problem (accelerator pedal position sensor.)

Let us know what happens.

An APPS (throttle position sensor) is actually easy to change...at least on the 24V. One thing that cleared the intermittent codes on mine (to include the APPS) was unplugging the VP44 injection connection, spraying it with contact cleaner, applying dielectric grease and reconnecting it.

I'm more of a 12V/24V guy, so this may or may not work on the 3rd Gen.

Hope you get it resolved.

So...checking all the wiring, making sure everything was tight. Started up the truck backed up drove about 40 ft in the driveway. Truck dies, rolls over with plenty of cranking amps but won't start. My son shows up pulls the fuse out of the Bully Dog programmer and it starts but blowing "blue" smoke. Put the fuse back in...now the Bully Dog is dead..
Any ideals. Would the ECM cause this?

Can you reprogram the computer back to stock without the Bully Dog and see what happens?

Just a hopeful guess...

Did you actually remove and clean the electrical connection? Washing the engine can cause debris to migrate into the connection and corrosion to occur. I know doing that solved my issues with codes and the engine running properly.

APP sensor could be failed part and not the ECM. Did they replaced APP sensor and code is still setting?
