Squeak Squeak

Ive got a 2006 3/4 ton 4x4 with 172,000 miles on it. Im the original owner. Ive done nothing to the front end except for shocks and brakes. I've got a squeak coming from what sounds like the front passenger side wheel area. Its intermittent. It squeaks more going down a straight road, and seems to lessen when I turn. I have close to worn out original size aggressive tires on it, so its hard to say if I have a bearing "growl". Whatcha think? u joint? wheel bearing? I jacked the truck up the other day, and found no up and down movement. When I spin the tire backwards I do hear some kind of clicking sound. Any help would be appreciated.

You didn't mention when you last did brakes, but brake pad wear sensors will do that. The squeak will stop when you apply the brakes.

I'm thinking you have an axle u-joint that's starting to seize. You might see some rust oozing out past the seal on one or more of the caps. Have found that Spicer Life non-greaseable joints make a much longer lasting replacement than the factory AAM joints.

less than a year ago. I checked them, its not the brakes.

Had similar noise coming from right front. Took it in and found the brake pads were worn and needed new rotors. I had about 140k on the pads and original rotors that never needed to be turned at 243k.

New rotors and pads and the squeak is gone. Replaced the ball joints at 170k and u joints with spicer at 145k

is the squeak correlated to bumps in the road? Might want to check the sway bar disconnects... or track bar? maybe have someone bounce on the front bumper and you lay under the truck to see if you can diagnose.

As other posted my brakes had me searching for a potential wheel bearing going bad, but no, it was the brakes. Knock on wood, my wheel bearings are holding up well at 312k!!!
