DW help
Ok i have read and read and read but cannot find a final answer to resolve the death wobble. Will someone please tell me what i need to do. I have a 2.5" lift with 315's up front and 35's in the back. I know the 315s are a big problem but i wanna have a final result to this.
thanks

You'll probably get plenty of opinions & anecdotes...
basically, all components should be in spec for wear & adjustment - and all joints/moving parts should be as strong & firm as possible... i.e. some of the soft rubber OEM bushings need to go!
Here's my explanation of what actually happens - hope it helps:

There was an article in Diesel Power magazine where they installed a brace that strengthens the steering box. It was in there latest issue and the part costs like 300 bucks if i remember right.
There are multiple companies making steering box stabilizers and it may help with the DW, but if you have other worn components, they need replaced as well. It can be everything from track bar bushings, tie rod ends, drag links, ball joints, worn or stock steering stabilizer with larger tires, even low tire pressure or any combination of the above. Sometimes it is difficult to find the exact cause, you may just have to get under the front and have some one work the wheel back and forth to see if you see any play in any of the components. Tac

Steering box brace will help, but not fix..
Your BFG tires are probably the biggest issue..
Rarely ever will you have the caster cams in the same spot, and them being not equal does not mean the axle is twisted..

I agree with Thuren. The front axle is not "twisted" by having the adjusters in different positions. It is far stiffer than the rubber bushings that support it.
If you are getting DW a lot and you are driving on smooth roads when it happens, it is very likely the tires. An out of balance tire is the most likely cause. Big heavy tires must be accurately balanced on a quality spinning machine because even if they are statically balanced they can try to turn right left right left as they roll along and set up DW. A bent wheel is another problem that will set it up and also prevents accurate wheel balancing.
Bumps can set it off too and it becomes up to the damper to get it under control. In that case it's just the natural oscillating frequency of the wobbling mass. The more play or flex there is in the system, the harder it is to stop once it starts.

Ok so i just left the dealer they have a part that is supose to fix the death wobble. Its a redesigned steering system. Has anyone heard of this before i go buy it?
Is it something that is a recall / warranty type item , or something only offered to someone willing to pay for it?
