U1412-IMPLAUSIBLE VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL RECEIVED
I drove up to Cripple Creek yesterday. Parked the truck in the garage and went wandering.
When I came back, odd things were happening:
- CEL, ABS, parking brake dash lights on
- air bag light on.
- no speedometer or odomoter.
- overhead temp at 68* (in the snow)
Everything else seems to work just fine. Drove the truck home without any troubles. Ran smooth and perfect just like it always does.
I did not feel the ABS kick in as we came down the mountain. But I rarely do. last night it didn't occur to me to hit the brakes hard to see what happens. I could check that in the dirt, though.
Recent changes/service:
- new batteries 6 weeks ago.
- That's it.
I checked all the fuses - even spare #30 with an ohm meter. All good. with the engine off, key on, and the brake pedal depressed I can hear a feint rapid tick. Not fast enough to be a buzz, though. Probably about 300-350 bpm.
I have been using a Smarty Jr for a while - no recent re-programs. Today I returned the ECM back to stoc - no troubles doing that.
I have had a Bully Dog Outlook Moniter plugged into the OBD port for almost 2 years. That no longer works. It lights up and function on it's own, but can't seem to communicate with the ECM.
Could this be as simple as a speed sensor? Or a bad ABS Module? I wouldn't think the ECM is bad; I'v had that happen and the truck quits running.
The truck seems to run just fine, so I'm not in a huge hurry to fix it. I'm an Old Guy, so I don't really need ABS.

CAN C BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED
CAN C BUS CIRCUIT OPEN
ABS MODULE
ECM
One of those codes that your gonna have to visit the dealer for. It could be a simple short, to replacing either the ABS module or the PCM.

Finally got around to taking the truck to the dealer. Other than a few things not working, it ran just fine so I wasn't in a big hurry.
All they did was reprogram the ECU - and charge me $115. They believe the Bully Dog outlook monitor caused the problem. The service rep said, "I'v seen those things fry the entire DTM."
I'v never heard of that happening - but I don't work in a Dodge dealer, either.
