The drivetrain weak link
The drivetrain weak link
Just wondering, if you chained the truck up to a solid, non moveable object so there was equal traction and pressure on all four stock factory tires, put it in 4x4 low range, first gear, what would give out or snap first? Or would the tires just burn till flat? My guess is a U joint somewhere.

Having attempted to move an axle deep in the mud car with my tires all on brushed (grabby) concrete, I can report that the tires are the week link in my lowly two wheel drive. I then went to the garage, put on another set I bought for the rims only, and melted down another set of tires. (Why not?) Had I possessed more tires, I'm sure we could have gotten to "4 out of 5 tires are the weak link" like some cheesy tooth paste commercial.
Not if you put some weight in the bed. Since the question was what would break first, my vote is axle or u-joint. The transfer case might go over time, but would not be the weak link in the scenario presented, imo.
