Drivetrain vibration

Truck in signature has about 30,000 miles. Here in the last day or so I have noticed a vibration during take off.

Taking off from a dead stop in 2nd gear with zero throttle launch, the truck takes off fine. With the clutch all the way out the truck is running about 5 MPH. When I step on the gas, I notice a vibration from about 6 to 10 MPH. It goes away after this speed, or if you let of the gas.

There is no vibration when the truck is coasting, engine on or off.

I am thinking that it may be a u-joint, but I am not sure.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

TIA

I have an 04 that is doing the same thing, Im searching throught the site to see what is going on. Mine is a 6 speed long box and I notice it more when im pulling a trailer but it does it with out it to, just not as much. I assume it might be slight axle wrap or some thing, I don't know?

So would it be from a sliping clutch or axle wrap?

ive said this in other posts, it is easy to test this out. I thought my truck was going to fall apart. no the engin was causing the problem. no the front suspension. the hubs.... on and on till I just made a spacer. cheap resolution.

Get some grade 8 bolts and some steel stock. make a spacer and see if it makes a change.

i did it and still have my "test" spacer in. I really need to put a more perm solution in.

here is a link with techy stuff. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/03-003-04.htm

Got it, thanks for the site! I was about to build a traction device, this will be much easer.

Follow-up

Truck was taken back to dealer to look at this problem and both u-joints in the rear drive shaft were bad and had to be replaced.
