I dont mind it really. For my mostly stock truck I think it gets me by just fine.

I have driven many autos (mostly chevys) and by far a better shifting tranny. Then again it could also be the mighty cummins up front

I like my 48RE. I actually wonder if I'd like a 6 speed auto because I don't think I'd ever know which gear I was in. I've always had manuals and almost got another one but thought it was a lot of work to drive when I test drove it (I've got short legs and that clutch travel is long). I'm getting lazy.

I sold my 05 because I thought it was the worst transmission I have ever had or driven in any truck.

Its ok, I dont like the hunting for gears when it downshifts though, or the slow upshift occasionally...

But it beats rowing gears in 5pm traffic...
I had enough of that in my '97. Its fun, but it gets old.

Once I do either a Goerend or ATS I wont worry about it...

I am happy with mine. But I will be even happier with a Built DTT 48RE.

I had an 06 with the 48re and HATED IT. After 3 mos I traded it for an 06 with the G56. 10X better!

My 2000 had a 6 speed and my 06 has the auto. I like it so far, it has a few querks, but I like it a whole lot better in the commute!

I had a 47RE in my 2000 V10 hated it, 48RE in my '06 love it so far seems to work better with the Cummins than the V10.

Like it except for a few little things. The TC could be alot better and not being able to have a exhaust brake while being covered by warranty.

I made out like a bandit with the rebates they were running. I got a little more than $10,000 off the sticker price on the new one. I bought the 06 auto for $31,000. They gave me $31,800 for it with 15,000 miles on it. I had to Haggle with them for about 3 hours, but that's a given... No regrets here. I always do A LOT of homework before going into a dealership. If you don't know what youre doing, you can almost count on getting screwed.
