To Do...Or Not To Do...
Man, I hate to see everyone bash on this youngster. He says he bought into his father's oil wells, and yall give him more grief because of what his father has.
What about the Engineers here, how would you feel if someone gave you the finger because you went to school,a nd now have a good paying job, or for any of you who have good paying jobs, what if someone came to you and said you suck, because you make more money than me, and i deserve it more than you. All I will say, is you don't deserve nothing if you do not put the time and effort into it.
If this kids dad owns oil wells, then good for him on probably getting into that industry back before the demand is such that it is now. If I was able to afford it, my kid would have the best to, but he would also know how to repsect it and others.
I hope that the few people that have replied to his posts in this thread do not represent the majority on here. I have 57 payments left on my truck, but I give this kid props if he does in fact have a share in his father's oil rigs, as if I had oil rigs, and kids, they would work like a dog all summer on them, and if I felt they deserved a future in that industry, why not let them learn the business at a young age instead of giving them a multi-million dollar endeavor with NO knowledge of it after college or something...
Dang, someone must have peed in my Corn Flakes, cause I am mad right now...

In a response to what your post was ACTUALLY about... In Jan. 2007 they will be putting the new 6.7 cummins in all the trucks. It will have all sorts of emmissions control goodies. So you'll probably want to stay with the good 'ole proven 5.9. I personally don't like the '07 changes to the appearance, but there are people that do. With the end of year incentives, I think the '06s are better deals.

Happy, if he didn't want to hear the "spoiled rich kid" stuff he wouldn't have mentioned his dad was buying him a "senior" truck to begin with!
Going on to call the rest of us lazy didn't make many friends either. Not all of our dads own oil firms, some of us have been working hard since we were 15 or younger.
B'sides, what difference does it make what he gets, I'm sure pops will buy him whatever he wants when he graduates.

Good for him. I see no reason why all you guys are being A-holes to the guy. If I'm in the position to do the same for my kid, I will. Doesn't mean he hasn't been taught how to do things the rightway. A $40,000 truck to his dad might be like you guys buying a $200 .22 rifle for yours. All I hear is jealousy.

I think you have this wrong, as I think what he was really wanting was some advice on what truck to buy, not where the money would come from, or what his families financial background is.
SO let's forget the previos posts about how lucky he is and focus on the question at hand.
If you wish to beat the emissions that are coming out this next year, then the 06 is for you. If you want the latest and the greatest, I would get an 07, aftermarket parts are not gonna be ready for a lil while, as this is a new toy for the manufacturers.
Personally, I hate the head lights on the 06's and the 07's also. I like the styling of the 05, but that is me. I imagine you could find an 05 on a lot somewhere that is new, and will save a pile of dollars as well.

CTDPower11,
Don't let these guys get under you skin!
Now days, it so rare to see young men with a work ethic and the brains to use it that we rarely know how to deal with it!!
I'm sure that you've worked your butt off and deserve your just rewards otherwise it would make no sense from a fathers point of view to get you anything. (nothing in life is free).
Keep on doing what you're doing and don't let your good fortune go to your head. It can change in a heartbeat and usually does.
Let us know what you get!
Rick

Okay then Happy...
If I was buying a truck today I'd get exactly what I got in April, an 06 QC LB with a 6 spd. Love my truck!
I like the looks of the 06 more than the 05, like the big headlights, grill etc, plus I got 0% financing on the 06.
I prefer standards to auto's, less trouble especially if you mod the engine.
I'd stick with the proven 5.9 over the new engine, stick with what's proven.
Then if I had lotsa cash and am not worried about trivial things like warranties, I'd add a chip, gauges, open the exhaust and intake, lift kit, custom tires, wheels etc.
(Okay, maybe I am just a little jealous!)

haha, yeah, I really like the new ones too!!! Ok, well I geuss im going to start shopping... Ill inform yall guys sometime soon... I HOPE!!! Im thinking, 2006 2500 CTD 4X4 6 SPD 4 door short bed. Does anyone have that Orengish red color??? My friends tell me about it, but ive never seen it???
i got a 1500 QC SB 4x4 Hemi for my 16th birthday, a pic is in my gallery. for my 17th birthday i got my cummins. The difference? i got the down payment for my 17th birthday. i pay for my truck. just because you see a teen in a big truck doesnt always mean that their parents gave it to them. i got 5000 from my parents for my down payment, and i pay 690 a month for my truck, and try to pay for most of my college tuition at 14,000 a year for in-state tuition. Any mods for my truck i pay for as well. i also just payed off a 7491.00 dollar ATV and added a 3000 dollar suspension to my snowmobile along with a 4500 dollar supercharger for my sled.
I work for my toys, i work very hard.
