Just an FYI......Dodge recommends 75w140 on 1500 models. Not 2500/3500 models.
We are supposed to use 75w90. Not saying the 140 hurts, but it is not what is recommended.
Look closely at these charts.....and particularly the vehicle listed above each.

FWIW..........I use Mobil 1 75w90 synthetic GL-5 gear oil bought at Autozone with no problems whatsoever. Any brand GL-5 Synthetic 75w90 is fine.

thnx, how do i know what axle is on there?
so the rear holds 4 quarts and the front 2.5? man this guy at the dealership had no freaking clue what he was talking about

All 3rd gen Dodge Cummins trucks have 9.25 AAM axles in the front and 11.5 AAM axles in the rear........except for 03 and 04 California emission trucks that had 10.5 AAM axles in the rear.
The amount of fluid needed is listed in the chart.
