difference in 600 series and HO
difference in 600 series and HO
I have a 2004 Cummins that I bought used, and have been very happy with. The previous owner left the sticker from the dealer in the glove box. All I can find is that it says 24 valve Cummins HO. I have been looking at the many choices in air intake systems and some say not for the 600 series. How can I tell if it's a 600 series or not? I would appreciate any help if possible.
Look at the Plastic valve cover for the engine sticker. Look for the HP rating. If it says 325 you have a 04.5 with the 325/600. If it says 305 you have the 04' with the 305/555 motor. The 325/600 has a catylitic converter with 4" exhaust all the way back and a 3rd injection event while the 305 does not. Hope this helps.
The sticker is on the black plastic cover next to the valve cover on the driver's side. It will say 305ISB or 325ISB. That is your HP number if it is indeed a HO. My neighbor has a 2001 CTD and the dealer told him it was an HO. It's got an auto trans so that tells me right there that it's an SO. Hopefully your dealer didn't do the same thing....
