Diesel color?

So I just changed my oil today for the first time and decided to change my fuel at the same time. I bought the truck with 5k miles on it and now it has 7k. I got under the truck with a 16 oz water bottle and set on the frame with the tube in it and opened the valve on the fuel/water seperator and the bottle almost filled up with completely clear fluid. I emptied it, changed the filter and cranked it up and re-drained it and same thing. I repeated this (minus changing the filter) 3 times and the fuel remained clear. It smelled like diesel, was greasy on my hands like diesel and left a shiny coating on the grass I poured it on like diesel but it looked like water. Is this the ulsd? It always had a highlighter tinge to it before in the old truck. It runs perfect but it sure doesnt look like diesel fuel in there.

I've got a jug in the garage from my last filter change. It's a light yellow tint.

You have No. 1 Diesel in your tank. It is clear and does not have the additives or is as good as the yellow/green No. 2 Diesel.

speakle.. you poured the diesel on your lawn?? you realize that is illegal and also polutes ground water right? Im not some EPA nut and I like my diesel and the way it smokes but I would never dump my fuel or oil where it can damage ground water.

TrkEnvy, I agree, but that what keeps my company profitable, I like those cleanups!
FYI 1 drop of diesel will contaminate 1 million gallons of water....... be careful if you are rural and have water wells, could contaminate your whole family farm...you get the point, I hope. A discharge is of I think 25 gallons or more needs to be reported to the local EPA office. You can dump it on a impervious surface to evaporate and you are within regs.

Oh jesus, give me a **** break. I dont pour anything on my lawn, I thought it was water. I dispose of my oil and such properly, just not used to seeing clear diesel therefore I poured it out (about 3-4 cups worth).
