Death Wobble

I have a 2005 2500 4x4 with the death wobble however it is not a side to side wobble it is an up down wobble. Wheels will actually come off the ground 3-4" depending on the speed. I have replaced shocks, dampener, sway bar bushings, had an alignment done, checked balance on the tires and the track bar has 0 give to it. Any ideas? Running out of ideas and money.

Welcome to DTR outofluck...

I know this was your first post, but please fill out your signature with exactly what mods, specifics that you on your truck. Case in point, for the purposes of this inquiry...your tire brand, size, etc... is going to be somewhat critical to know for folks to offer you value added suggestions.
Lots of good info on this site about solutions to this problem. Personally, I had it really bad with 35x12.5x17 BFG AT's (not bashing BFG's, but these tires have been prone to contribute to DW on these trucks). In my case, I replaced the tires with a good E rated tire (Nitto Trailer Grapplers, same size as before) and the problem was cured. However, it seems that each truck is a little diffrent on the end all solution.
I know you have already made some upgrades...but before you get too far down the road throwing money at the whole front end, you might want to look at your tires/alignment as a good "start".

Again, LOTS of info on here regarding suggestions on a solution for your issue. Good luck...I know this is a super frustrating problem to have!

Put Urethane bushings in your track bar no matter what you think the condition of the bushings is.... As the front axle moves side to side it contributes to the tires rolling under and bouncing. You THINK the bushings are tight, but you haven't put thousands of pounds of force on them either!

Adjust your caster to 4 degrees or more. I don't think you can get much more than maybe 5. More is more stable, but will wear tires and tend to want to make you go straight all the time.

Take those BFG's off. Big soft tires contribute to DW. Also pump the pressure up to maximum or even 10lbs over. If you have a lift or leveling kit it screws up your caster a bit. Caster is your friend.

In true DW the front tires WILL leave the ground. The tires roll under themselves and then scrub and spring off the road. A little shimmy shake is not death wobble. I had the real deal and it will make you pray as you try to bring the truck back into control and stay on the road. The truck becomes completely uncontrollable and the thrashing increases even as you try to stomp on the brake and fight the wheel.

I got rid of mine for good, and I still have all original ball joints, track bar, bearings, etc. etc. I'd start with some extra caster and track bar bushings. True death wobble is nothing to mess around with! Good luck!
