Dealer says No Warranty on Balljoints.

Called the Dodge dealership today to see if ball joints are covered under warranty. The ball joints are going bad at 45,000 miles. Dealer says not covered under warranty. What do you guys recommend for replacements? Are there ball joints out there that would hold up any better than the stock ones? Anything I should know about replacing them?

Are the 2004 models only covered to 3/36? I was thinking I had the longer Warranty.

The 7/70 powertrain warranty was last offered on the 05s. 06+ don't have it. Your 04 does, if you are the 1st owner or the 2nd owner and have paid the $150 to transfer it within 30 days of purchase.

I went with the greasable 330A Precision from rockauto.com. Should work for you if you have a short box QC.

Someone on this site awhile back claimed that he got his dealer to replace them under the 7/70, since they are sorta' kinda' part of the drivetrain on a 4x4. Might be worth a try.

on good way is to get the truck up and wiggle the wheel holding it at the top and the bottom. Shouldn't have any play.

that is one way, but that assembly is so heavy, I put a pry bar of some sort under the jacked up wheel, and lift up on it. If it moves up when you lift, it is bad, there is a tolerance for movement in the ball joints, but I do not remember what it is..

The dealer took one look at your oversized tires and right then and there decided no warranty coverage. Anything bigger than a 285 is a and wearing out bearings and ball joints more often than normal is a price you're gonna pay.
