PT,

I think that you have sold me on buying this one. Question is when activated how long will the brake stay on in the RPM range? Also Does it cut out at certain RPM? Or does it work like the "Big Trucks"? What about the sound? I love noise, I know lose the muffler.

Brake stays on until about 22 mph. At that speed RPM is so low on an auto tranny its really not effective anyway.

It works like this: activates about 2 seconds after you let off the accelerator, turns off automatically as the torque converter unlocks, the tranny downshifts, the torque converter locks, and the brake activates again. It does all this in a second or two. The cycle repeats when it needs to downshift again.

It sounds awesome from inside the cab. Can't say what it sounds like outside 'cause I'm always the one driving!

PT,
Just got quoted 1286.00 out the door for parts from twisted diesel in Virginia Beach, 480.00 for install. Installer said there would be a lot of cutting??? I thought this would be basically plug and play? From what we have talked about I did see anywhere that you had to do cutting. Maybe the installer was jacked.

Yeah, I heard this before and it turns out there is a guy that sells them on eBay every once in awhile for that. But, when I was looking to buy he wasn't on there so I got one that was listed on eBay as 'dealer overstock' from a dealer in Carlinsville, IL for $800. They're out there .... Just keep looking

Best price I found was just under $1,000 for the brake at OEMDodgeParts.com

$800 would be a great deal.

Oh boy, stay away from that shop. There's no cutting!

I'm a little weary of the 3rd gen Jake. I have heard too many horror stories with the belt driven vacuum pump failures. They were a much better on the 2nd gen when they ran off the much more reliable gear driven OEM vacuum pump. I'm loving my PRXB on my 03. It has tons of retarding power and a high quality air system. I can't believe how quiet it is either. It isn't very difficult to install but installing the air system is a bit time consuming.

PT,
So the plot thickens... what is the part mumber that I need? I thought it was C44045 and there is a C44052. Did yours come with Everything under C44045? There is a price difference of a couple hundred dollars. Thanks Bill

My kit is the C44045. I have my paper work right here so I'm certain of that.

Thanks for all of your help in this endeavor I will buy when I return from WV, have to haul trailer first without so I can show wife difference Still will reserach pricing till then 989 is the best I have found so far. Her biggest complaint is "It's a new truck why do you have to do all of these modifications"? Oh I forgot she is the gas and go type. I could just put her on the street corner to pay for addtional brake jobs, and she can visit me in the hospital from potential heart attack while towing in the mountains
