DC Fuel filter MICRON requirements
From my understanding the lower the micron the harder it is to seperate the water through filtration. That's why you'll see a water seperator before the main filter like on a Airdog or FASS. Another good solution is to keep the stock filter canister and install a 2 micron between that and the CP3.

I am a little leerie about using the factory heater to push warm fuel through a frozen filter. I would assume the fuel would quickly re-gel up just like warm water in the freezer and not help reduce the gelling in the 2 micron.

Permacool makes a 2 mic f/w seperator... Thou like MikeyB said, the fine filtration filters are generally not separators as they are secondary filters. The OE filter is actually a really good f/w sep.
As far as the OE fuel heater and the extra filter, I am not even close to concerned. My 2 mic is inches from my block so it gets heat from that as well. Also the fuel around here is winterized, so if I got cold enough to gel I have other things to worry about.
