I emailed fleetguard about the FS19579 fuel filter and it is a 10 micron filter @ 98.7% effienciency.
What got me thinking about this was an article I read about Catipillar having some engines that were running 20,000 hrs that typically were being overhauled around 12,000 hrs. Injectors were lasting 2-3 time longer.http://www.agriculture.com/sfonline/sf/2001/december/0114fuel.html Sounds like the 2 micron filter is were we are headed but just not there yet.
The Duramax group has got a "mega" filter but that thing is a monster in size. And not heated which might cause problems in the winter? Our filter is heated when necessary, I forget the temperature range but something like anytime fuel temp is below 45 degrees and turns off at 65.
