6 Speed And Mobil 1 75w 90
Hello guys i am a new member of this grate place. and now i have a ?. is mobil 1 75w 90 syntetic gear oil compatible with 6 speed tranny a freind of mine says he's been using it with no problems could this be true. any of you gays using it. thanks for the responces
Mobil 1 is a hypoid gear lube rated GL5. The additives that are required for rear axles are corrosive to the brass synchronizer rings in the transmission and will cut the life of those components in half. If you are looking for a full synthetic oil for your 6 speed, try Redline MTL which is compatible with your brass synchronizer rings. Your friend will eventually experience shifting problems.

I just changed my tranny out to syn. It is somewhat quieter and is starting to shift smoother with only about 200 miles on it since the change out. I can't decide if the "quieter" is due to the new output shaft bearing or the syn. It is still rattling, but not as bad. Sure wish someone could figure this sucker out.
