CTD noob, purchase advice please

Hello everyone...

I currently have a wonderful 2008 grand cherokee CRD overland... but i've decided to trade her in for a full size, which brings me here !

I've taken my rather expensive jeep wheeling a bunch and I drove my sled into the back of it once so it's got dings and dents and scratches all over it, and noone wants to buy it from me. So I took it to a few dodge dealers to see what kind of trade offers I can get. Every dealer I drove it to had their managers out looking at it with a full boner .. so I've decided to go that route to save on taxes as well.

My jeep's worth about $33k the way it is. I've got a couple of offers on the table at local dodge dealers that I'm considering:

-2005 crew cab shortbox laramie, 84000K (52000 miles), auto, burgandy (not too stoked on the color) pretty mint

- 2007 crew cab shortbox 6 speed manual with the 5.9, white (like this better) 143000k (89000 miles) also mint condition

Both dealers have offered me a straight trade as they had theirs listed at about 33k as well. I personally like standard over auto and am favoring the 07.

I just got off the phone with the dealer for the 07.. Brand new engine (long block) installed because the old one wasn't taken care of and the cyl walls had cross hatching and too much blow by. Front end (ball joints and front axl u joints) and brakes were done at the same time, tranny serviced at the same time, one year warranty on the motor. No warranty on the rest of the truck though. It has the G56 and anti spin diff, otherwise rubber floors and cloth interior (power windows and locks)

I'm leaning more towards the 07 as I personally like standard transmissions and I hear the G56 is the better one and pretty bulletproof.

Any words of advice? should I buy extended warranty for $3000 (motor, turbo, drivetrain, drive axels, suspension, electronics, ac) ?

Thanks!

Dave Smith up in Kellogg, ID has dealt with Canadian sales in the past, you might want to call/e-mail them and see if you can get a better deal.
