So last night my water temp gauge started going crazy. Going up to nearly red and then coming back down to about 200. What would cause this? Thermostat is my guess but i wanna see if there's any other possibilities. Thanks guys.

 

Low coolant can cause that too. I think there were some issues about a clamp leaking on a heater hose in those years too. Might be worth a look.
