Crank shaft sensor code issues
Crank shaft sensor code issues
HI there folks ... great forum but the first time posting. I have a 04.5 with 220,000 miles on and I get the crank sensor code 336. I changed the sensor and I was good for about 3 weeks and again it starts to cough and the check light comes on and then it runs great. I found on here about the wire by the filter and sure enough I had the same problem. Again it ran for about 2 weeks and it started coughing again and same 336 code.
I get 24 mpg with lots of power but was wondering if you folks think that it could be the injectors or is there another wiring problem that is out there.
thanks

Also check the wire that is below the oil filter and on the ac line/ac compressor. It can chafe away on the ac fitting. There is a thread with pics in the forum about this as well.

I did find this wire rubbed through but the guy that wrote the article talked about him having a cam shaft error. My poor truck keeps haveing 336 code. Can injectors or other wiring issues cause a repeat problem. The 336 code states crank shaft perforamnce error. I am not sure what that means.
Thanks

Crank Shaft Sensor
If you've patched the wires check to see if the cam sensor is properly aligned. This can also cause codes indicating cam sensor and/or injector problems. I had a similar issue and it was primarily the naked wires (pinched by the oil filter area) and the cam sensor. Once repaired and adjusted I had no more problems.
So It seemed the old crank sensor was around .050 clearance but I am not sure exactly how far away it should be per the book. I did stick my head under while it was running and it seems the that the notched wheel that it is reading is not going around perfectly smooth. I have not put an indicator to see how out around but does this evan matter. What should the clearnce be and is there a way of verifing that the crank sensor is working correctly.
Thanks so much for your input.
