Cracked Oil Filter
Cracked Oil Filter
Just got back from towing my 5r about 1400 miles and found oil all over the undercarrage back as far as the rear end. Got cleaning stuff off and found a small hairline crack in the very bottom of my Dodge, just changed before the trip oil filter. Man I'm lucky that it is only down about a quart and it doesn't appear that anything hit it. Has anyone else had this problem? The dealer wants me to have it towed in so they can take pictures and show it to Chrysler. I just wanted to change out the filter and be done with it.
I had a fleetguard filter split at it's seam where the can connects to the flange. I only lost about a quart too, though you would have thought I lost it all by the looks of the underside of my truck. Filter was replaced for free and there was no problems after that.
Like you, I was very lucky.

Cracked Oil Filter
Well believe it or not when I called the dealer he said to have it towed in that they wanted to get pictures. That was at 1030 today. The truck was picked up thru CD towing and the service rep called me at 2:30 to tell me it was done. NO CHARGE! The filter was defective. They even cleaned the undercarrage. Can't be bad to that!

You suppose DC will charge you for undercarrage lubrication?
