CP3s are rebuildable.
A CP3 is rebuildable for those of you who have trouble out of warranty.
They are a pretty simple pump. Simple hand procedures will take them apart, unlike say a VP44. There is nothing really to set or check, all you do is replace parts.
Ideally the CP3 would be checked on a test stand, but one could rebuild and test on the engine. If the ECM doesn't throw codes your CP3 is fine.
If you do rebuild it, cleanliness is everything. Pressure wash the CP3 and your engine before you remove it. Shop bench should be dining room table clean. Any debris you leave in the CP3 will go straight into the injectors. But don't let that scare you. The injectors have edge filters on the inlets that will prevent big damage. Nevertheless, keep it clean.
You can get parts including seal kits from www.dipaco.com.
Their catalog is here:

See page 41 for CP3 parts.
You've got nothing to lose by doing this. If your rebuild doesn't work, pull your good parts out and take the truck into the dealer.
You might need to buy a special tool or two, but Dipaco sells them. Tools are a lot cheaper than paying a dealer for a new CP3. Which is probably rebuilt with these very parts.
I haven't done a CP3 yet. I've got one. I've worked on similar pumps. Don't bother asking.
Oops. Page number should have been 2-5.
