Ok guys and gals. I am in the middle of the ocean on deployment right now, internet connectivity is HORRIBLE (took 15 minutes just to get to this page)...I would look it up, but it might take me till my retirement to find out the answers that I need.

My buddy is in the market for a used Cummins and wants to know the MAIN differences between a standard output and high output truck? I don't know what his plans for his truck are yet, but once I can give him some info on the two, I'm sure it will help him narrow his searches. I honestly don't know the differences in the two...so any help ya'll can give would be great! Thanks ya'll!

Basically just programming between the so and HO. Less power stock than a HO, but nothing a few mods will level out.

 

axle size is different. Non HO has a 10.5 and the HO has a 11.5. Towing capacity is likely different too

 

i think the ho has some type of piston cooling and the so doesnt? 48RE is standard on the auto and nv5600/g56 is standard also for the HO
