Couple 3rd gen questions

I bought a 05 finally found one with the mods I want anyway I got a couple questions.
The truck does not yet have head studs should I be putting some in if so are new age or 625's necessary? Mods done high tech 66mm, bd cp3, bd60 hp injectors, mid level smarty tune.

Want ad removed site violation

Cheers kenton

How far do you plan on going with it Kenny? If you are staying under 1000 hp no need for 625's the 2000's are fine for everyday type use. If you want you can give me a shout anytime and I can go over all of this with you!

I don't plan on taking it farther Kevin depending on how the 66mm feels I might go to towing twins one day but not soon. Other question is a stud install a lot more difficult then my 2nd gen or what's different I guess is my question.

Same deal doing studs. Counter-intuitively, I think there is more room in the 3rd gen when working on it under the cowl.

First question the last owner was using a smarty so6 and lost the programmer with as far as he knows a tune still on the truck. Can I use another tuner or will that potentially stack it? I emailed smarty but no reply yet how do I clear this tune.
Thanks

You will need to talk to Bob, you will probably have to buy a tuner, then he will provide you with a recovery tune, then you can retune it to your liking... other than that you will have to go the dealer and have them reflash your truck

I would contact Harry at Peak, he seems to have Bob ear. I've had a few custom smarty tunes over years that fix-up issues. Like Kev stated, you probably will have to buy a custom smarty programmer.

Good luck, with the truck, sounds like a decent ride.

Smarty emailed back any other smarty so6 will over ride the current tune and I'm on my way so that's good.
