cooler t-stat???

Talking cooler t-stat???

is there a cooler t-stat for a 04 cummins?gets quite hot here in the summer and i wouldnt mind her running a bit cooler.maybe a 180 degree,if there is one is there a part# for it. thanx dave

These engines are not like old school engines, the sensors are set up to work and whatever temperature the T-stat that the engine came with. You may find that if you put a cooler T-stat in the engine may perform different. I did it on a Honda car and my MPG went down about 4 MPG because the sensor was telling the CPU that it was still running cool so the mixture stayed rich. Just a thought.

The thermostats for the '99's and older were 180's I believe. Don't have a part number on that. I believe they went to the 190's in 2000.

Yeah, they may be. Anyway, pre 2000 were 10 degrees cooler if I remember correctly.
