Coolant Leaks

Has anyone besides me had numerous coolant leaks? The first week I had my truck the heater hose leaked. I put a SS Screw Clamp on it and stopped that. While I was at it I put one on the other one as well.

After that the overflow hose was not on well and was not returning the coolant to the overflow tank. The dealer fixed this and added coolant to the system.

Today I found that the lower radiator hose was leaking at the connection due to a broken spring clamp. It was broken in half and had no tension at all. So I put a SS Screw Clamp on it.

I only lack three more clamps having all of them converted or backed up with the SS Screw Clamps. I guess to Mistake Proof this I should just go ahead and replace or add a Screw Clamp to the rest of them.

I hate to complain as this has been the only trouble I have had, Just wondered if anyone else has found these problems. I think I would check them out and see if their was any evidence of coolant leaks before any remote trips or distant travel. I really never trusted the spring type clamps anyway. +Jim

The spring clamps if in good condition do a great job, but I hate working with them and one by one they get changed out on my truck.

My salesman test drove mine befor I picked it up. Said they had a leak and repositioned a clamp. Got home checked bottle it was full. Next week drove 150 miles checked again was low. took it to a closer dealer and they put a clamp on overflow hose and put in some dye. Still leaked, they ordered a heater hose, went back and had it installed. No problem since. Just seemed like alot of trouble for such a small problem. Being an ex tech I would have probably been yelled at for not fixing it the first time. Would have fixed it myself but am partly disabled and can't climb up or get under it very easy. Would love to be able to do all. Only way you know its done right.

I just wondered if anyone else had found these same problems. Also to make everyone aware of the possibility of a problem out on the road.

MOPAR has used spring clamps ever since I can remember, I never did like them and still don't............Jim
