So like many other's I thought my truck had a trans leak this morning when I went out to start it. After getting under the truck I noticed that it was coming from that little hose for the coolant right by the turbo. I could not believe how loose the clamps were on the hose. I tightened them up but I doubt that will last very long. I remember that there was a replacement hose and clamps some people were putting on, but can't remember what the part number's were?

just paid 25 bucks for that stupid hose at dodge. didnt even come with clamps! part #5179114ab off my invoice.

 

Main reason I switched back to the "green" stuff... not enough benefits to warrant the hassel/confusion in identifying a red trans leak vs. a red coolant leak! Switched over a few months ago which really helped diagnose a leaking water pump! If I'd stayed with the "red" stuff I'd still be looking for the problem! Upon 1st sight...there's just no mistak'n a fluorescent greenish/yelllow puddle...even nature seems to agree!

 

Is that 'green stuff' HOAT compliant?

Same problem I had today also. Seems this is a pretty common issue as it gets colder. My dealership can not find this new part though so have to wait and see.

 

The dealership by me could not find the part also which does not make a lot of sense. I went to dodgeparts.com and it came up when I put in the part numbers. I think the hose was 12 bucks from them.

 

The hose isn't going to fix anything. You need to get the other clamps. Mine leaked a few weeks ago so I tighened the worm gear clamps, and it started leaking again today. Your going to need the self adjusting clamps as well as the hose.

I will see if I can find the post I made that a few guys had the part numbers for the clamps. Or you might be able to find some at the auto store.

Edit: Well I found my post about the same thing, no part numbers for the clamps in there. It must have been in a differant thread sorry.

Too bad Dodgeparts has a minimum shipping cost of 9.95. That's almost the same price as the hose and two clamps.

 

I snugged my factory clamps on that little hose behind the turbo last year and haven't had a leak since.

 

So here are the part numbers you REALLY want!!!! They are the Cummins Part numbers from the parts I purchased from the Dodge Dealer. And yes, whoever has purchased them from the dealer was ripped (just like me)....

Hose - 4939438 (almost 1/3 of the cost of the dealer)
Clamp - 4930327 (of course you will need 2)
