Cold Starting Problem
Cold Starting Problem
Need a little help. If the temp drops below 55 deg. My truck will not start unless i squirt a little starting fluid (i know dont use it) It will start always above 55. I have no problems running the truck down the road and idle. No long cranking or performance issues when it is warm. Changed the fuel filter twice now, Different tanks of fuel,Been 2 months since it got cooler happens again. 10 oclock now and it started right away. No codes
Anyone know how to test the heater grid? Could it be the Tps?
Took to dealer and they say nothing coming up on comp. Wont do it there.
Want to get it fixed before winter.

The best way is to pull the plenum [ intake horn ] , and hold hand one inch above to see if there is heat , the reason for this is that the heater could melt short and appear from the out side to work because it is pulling a load [ high amps ] , more comin is the heater burns out & pulls no amps , also the relay , fuse's , fuseable links , and the sensor that tells the heater to come on .
BUT thats for winter , you have some other problem because it should start right away with out heater down to 0 - 20*F , the sensor is not spouse to turn the heater on above about 40 *F , so you need to look at a possible fuel problem , fuel pressure test [ set of gages , fuel pressure ect ] .
Depending on the dealer , that can be a bad place to go , there seems to be a consensus that the dealers are problematic .
finish filling out your sig. for some answers , auto trans ? , where are you , for a shop recommendation .
