Another cold starting problem

Hi I know this is probebly beating a dead horse but they siad I needed to post a thread. Anyway have done alot of reading on cold starting issues and havn't come to any conclutions. my truck starts great when it is warm but when it gets down below freezing it struggles. It will start but then it dies and it may take 2 or 3 more times to start. My grid heater is coming on because there is voltage drop and my lights dim after it is running. Anybody have any ideas. Also if I put a pressure gauge on the filter housing , should the pressure bleed off after it is turned off. Thanks wyattearp29

You may have to run an addative in your fuel for when it gets cold. Your fuel could be starting to cloud around freezing if the station doesnt run blended fuel in the winter months. I use howes all year long and plug it in when the temp is gonna drop below 15* at night. Mine will do the same thing around 0* if i dont plug it in and around 20* if i dont plug it in or run the addative. Just a thought

You should check the grid heaters for voltage during the pre-start cycle. If they are not working then you can have the fire and die problem.
Also inspect your fuel lines for weepage. You might have a small pinhole letting air into the system.

Yes it will bleed off in a few seconds.

So does the precycle work off something different then when the engine is running, because the lights are dimming when the truck finally gets going. So my grid heaters should be working correct. Also what fuel lines should I check. thanks wyattearp29

update : Started testing my heaters and solenoids.Found a bad one. So I replaced it with one of the ford ones.Seems to work good now. I was also noticing with the truck running that heaters alternate so only one is on at a time. So is this the normal operation.
