2003 SO with 4.10

I am trying to find info about an early SO engine with 4.10 gears. Truck is a 3500 SRW. How is the milage with this set up? Since it is an SO, what type of box do the SO guys recommend. Thanks

Jim

Some might call it heresy...

..but I run an Edge EZ on level 2 ($200 on ebay), which puts me about where an '03 HO would be power-wise. I took it off once recently on a trip to see the dealer- big difference! Be sure and add the boost elbow as well.

Can't help you with the mileage, since I have 3.73s. But back when I had my stock Michelins I was getting 18-19 avg, 21mpg on the interstate empty at 75mph, 23+ at 55-60 mph on the backroads. 12 mpg towing heavy at interstate speeds. My new BFG 285s have knocked about 15% off those numbers . Adding an S&B intake hasn't seemed to help any.

Where are you located Shrimpy? I traded my 03 SO 3500 SRW in for the 07 in North Carolina. If you have my old truck then you are a lucky man!
Anyways, when I was done with the truck I was getting almost 17city and 22-24 hwy. Those SOs get great mileage but they are way down on power. An EZ is a great box but you should be careful with pressure boxes because they can damage your injectors if run on the high settings constantly. Level 2 is safe and will make your truck come to life. My mileage dropped 2 points with an EZ on my SO though. I had a Quadzilla Race box also and that box gave me a very slight increase in mileage on the 60hp setting. The powerband was much better than the EZ too.....

Thanks for the info guys. Zilla this dodge is in Texas, original owner. I can live with the power, I only tow about 6500# to 7000# in the summer only.

To clarify, the truck is a 3500, SRW, 4x4, 47RE, SO, 4.10 anti-slip.

Diablo Predator is one of the best on the SO and HOs and you can't beat the price! I get nearly 19 if I baby it - 12 towing at 65. The Pred didn't change mpg but there's plenty of power if I want to use it. Brute bottom end and very smooth power all the way up. Craig

As you can see I have a 03 2500 SO with 4:10s. I have an Edge Juice w/ Attitude and I run mine on Lvl 4 all the time, Great fuel milage and great power. Love my truck so far! Will be lifting it soon!

Thanks Shomer, Boss and 2003Ram. I appreciate the info. 2003Ram, that is the kind of milage I want to stay away from for my normal every day driving. My 12V gets me 18.5 to 19 with 3.55's in 50/50 city,Hwy. I know this is not a good measure, but those 4.10's make me uneasy since I don't tow that heavy.

Guess I could find someone to swap with since it is a 11.5??????

Thanks again guys,

Jim
