Coil failure on injectors
IIRC, 1 ohm or less on the injector, 4-5 ohms on the VC harness, 1-2 ohms on the ECU harness. At the VC 5-6 ohms is usual.
I'm not sure where your seeing 4-5 ohms at the valve cover, I never saw more than a .1-.2 ohm change, meaning at the valve covers you should see 1.1-1.2 ohms when measuring at the valve cover. It takes a quality ohm meter to even see the differences each coil that I lost measured higher resistance than all the other injectors usually 2.5-3+ ohms. I think the coils open up and then weld back together when the ecm tries to fire the injector, this causes a high resistance connection inside the coil. How long it will last or how well it runs is anyones geuss. The first coil I lost was open and had a miss when I ohmed it out, started it up to move truck into the shop and it no longer missed but I could tell it wasnt working right, ohms on the coil were high. Second same deal except I couldnt hear any change in the way the engine ran but it ohmed high(not as high as the first). I changed out the injectors and just got back from a 2kmile trip towing my 5thwheel and everything runs good, even got some mpgs back and the engine is running a little cooler(was having problems with it heating up when towing).
