My truck just shot this code out using a scanner on it,it sounded like it was almost missing a lil at idle so I plugged it in and got that.

I know it has to do with glow plug heater malfution? or something like that,is this a big deal or just one of those temper issiues they have once in awile?

P0381 is Glow Plug/Heater Indicator Circuit (Wait To Start Lamp Inoperative). These Cummins engines use Grid heaters instead of glow plugs. It looks like yours isn't working right. I don't know if it is a big deal or not. The engine really only needs the grid heater if it is cold outside. Don't quote me though i could be wrong
