clutch need replaced?
clutch need replaced?
This has happened 3 times in about 3 weeks. i'm sitting at a light with the clutch in and my foot on the brake. suddenly the truck is trying to take off, i have to hold the brake pretty firm. as soon as you let off the brake, the truck goes and when you let the cluth out it feels like there is no pressure on it. is the entire clutch going out or is there something else that could be causing it? any advice would be appreciated.

Gotta leak somewhere in the hydraulics.
The reservoir, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and lines are "one piece" and have to be replaced as an assembly.
I looked for two weeks and found basically three options. Dodge OEM, NAPA style OEM replacement, and Southbend. I went with number three. NAPA was like $400. Didn't price Dodge because I had a problem with their setup causing the pedal to get hard and not release. Southbend was $350 and had steel braided lines.

Until you get it fixed, flip her into neutral and let off the clutch, when the light is about to change, put it back in gear. Probably won't bleed down before you take off. But it will fail eventually.
Actually really simple. A little time consuming but simple. It'll have directions but basically, remove the slave cylinder from the trans, then unplug clutch position sensor and unhook the push rod from the pedal inside, little plastic clip, and twist out the old one. Look at the new one to see how it works. New one goes in same except the reservoir is separate and needs to be screwed to the firewall. Comes with the screw too. More crawling around back and forth and under, that's probably the hardest part. The assembly is sealed and should be full of fluid. You can't, and shouldn't have to, bleed it. Since it has the reservoir up top, any air should work itself out. If mine had any air in it, I never noticed.

That's what your problem is. Just to add, you don't have to see fluid leaking out for it to be leaking at the slave cy or master cyl. Sometimes the dust boot on either of the shafts will seal up well enought o keep the fluid from physically leaking out onto the ground.
