clutch aftermarket
clutch aftermarket
think i have an aftermarket clutch my truck is an early 04 6 speed the pedal is pretty stiff and if i put in second and just let off the clutch and just let it idle it makes this weird rattle noise what is that noise and how can i tell if its an aftermarket clutch or not
If you just let the clutch out and don't give it any throttle mine does the same noise thing. I have heard many manuals do this, it's normal.
As for telling if it's an aftermarket clutch I couldn't tell yah how to tell.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Seems to me that I read somewhere of a SB on clutch rattle. Think it was for the 2003's but it may also apply to later models.
It does it more loudly when the transmission is cold. Next time after the truck sits all night start truck in normal way roll your window down so you can hear take off on level ground do not use throttle let truck get up to speed on it's own and then slow down on it's own you will hear it. The trick is to let truck do it without you useing throttle. The noise I'am referring to is more of a err, err, err noise.
i hear that noise but do yall guys use the throttle when starting off or just let off the clutch all the way then press on the throttle cause i was told to just let off the clutch then press the throttle

I have never used throttle to take off. Guys that are used to gassers tend to use throttle on take off. There is absolutely no need on a cummins, a powerstroke or duramax maybe. It will just wear your clutch more if using throttle.

I just let the clutch out(slowly) and then give it throttle to get going, if you let the clutch out too fast it will do the above.
