Clicking when I turn the steering wheels

When I'm driving and I turn the steering wheel to a certain point I start to get a clicking sound everyonce in a while. Its actually coming from around the steering wheel, it's not a u-joint or nothing like that. I have also noticed that when trying to get into a parking spot or anything where I'm steering the truck while run low rpms I have to crank on the wheel like I have no power steering. Plus just yesterday I noticed at idle the trucks is making a different kind of vibration at idle, but quits when give it a little throttle. Could this all possibly be linked to the power steering box?

If it is popping when you turn it, like it turns easy and then not then easy again etc. you might have air in your system. I would do the normal checks, belts, fluid level etc. Sounds like it might be the pump otherwise.

I seem to remember something about a clock spring problem. The clock spring is inside the steering wheel, behind the air bag.

My 04 is doing this again. A couple of years ago it was getting pretty noticeable. Clicking badly enough that I could almost feel the clicks. I put the front end on jack-stands and disconnected the batteries, pulled the airbag and worked my way down. I thought pulling the clockspring would eliminate it but no luck. I finally pulled the steering wheel and there is a cheap looking open ball bearing supporting the top of the steering shaft. It has exposed ***** like a bearing in a kids bicycle wheel. It looked OK but pretty dry so i greased it and it helped significantly. I still had an occasional pop but much better than before.

After a couple of years it is not as bad, but starting to come back.
