Hey there, I noticed that under loaded conditions I get some noise of what I think is Injector clatter. From what I remember my 04, 06, and now 07 5.9's have all done this. Seems to go away when your off the go pedal. Only when accelerating or in a head wind etc.. Does it the same before and After my 2 micron fuel filter install. I used to run a mix of MMO/PS and that really helped quiet them down. The Opti lube XPD has really helped other aspects of the engine but wondering if there was a way to raise the cetane? Thanks!

 

I've noticed the same noise when going 80 thru some mountains empty. I have been wondering about it myself, kinda scared me when I first noticed it. Really curious to know the answer to this and if any harm is being done.

 

I don't think there is any harm being done. I have heard Injector " Clatter" is very normal, Knocking or Pinging is not normal from what i gather. I just had an injector replaced and it was the same as before. I am going to fill up with Diesel and add Power service. Seems that really helped last time...

Yea, its hard to describe. It's kind of like a clatter, not a solid ping or Knock.. As soon as you let off the go pedal it stops unless your on cruise in a head wind, then it kind of does it.. I love my Opti Lube XPD and thats what I have been running but want to try a tank of PS first..
