Exclamation clank when coming to complete stop....PLZ HELP

Ok so when I come to a complete stop I can feel a clank when I let off the brake to take off agagain. I have NO idea what this is. Also if I park on an incline it won't drop into gear. Not driving funny, no vibrations, and it shifts fine going down the road. '05 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT 4x4 automatic

Check your u-joints. Sounds like one has failed. My guess would be either the rear drive shaft center joint.

Thats a classic u-joint problem. Don't be fooled by manually working the joint. These things will show good and still be bad. If you have very many miles replace all the joints in the rear drive shaft or replace it with a 1 piece drive line.

If you put the trans in neutral for 30 seconds when this happens will it then drove ok? Likely the drain back check ball in the trans cooler output line is not holding or the o-ring on the input shaft is not holding and the TC is emptying while sitting.

And for goodness sake..DONT let them use a giant shop press to push them out.I cringe when I see the flanges being ruined with a press. If a press is used, put pressure on the joint, then smack it with a hammer and they will pop loose with ruining the driveshaft. That is why you see so many on here going to 1 piece.Their orig shafts were ruined after the 1st joint replacement.
